Letter September 8, 2008
Dear Friends of Valley Springs,
The Greater Valley Springs Advisory Group needs your participation and financial support to mail surveys in November to the residents of greater Valley Springs. The survey results will provide Calaveras County with vital information to draft community-specific language for Valley Springs in the current update of the county's General Plan.
The deadline for providing community input to the county is February 2009. We must act quickly in order to have enough time for the surveys to be mailed, returned, and the results tabulated. These survey results will also be invaluable at such time when a complete update of the 30-year-old Valley Springs Community Plan may be done. Based on community input, the GVSAG is finalizing a survey and will post it on the website, www.gvsag.org.
The Calaveras County Community Development Agency (CDA) has provided 5,600 mailing labels and has pledged to pay the postage. GVSAG needs to provide the surveys, envelopes, and return envelopes with mailing labels affixed at an estimated cost of $1500. Survey mailing preparation will be a two-stage process in order to present the survey to the CDA for mailing by November 1st. Stage one will require $600 to be raised to pay for the envelopes and labels in time for our September 25th meeting. Stage two will require an additional $900 to be raised by October 15 to pay for printing the surveys. Your donation in any amount is needed now to get clear direction from the people regarding the future of their town and the greater Valley Springs planning area.
Please join us at the "stuffing" party during our next regular meeting, September 25, 2008, 7:00 p.m. at the Community United Methodist Church, 135 Laurel St, Valley Springs. We will be folding and stuffing return envelopes and affixing labels, so all that will be left to do is insert the surveys when they're ready. We welcome your help and the opportunity to know you better. We need more than just your money. We need you!
Thank you to those of you who have already helped to establish the GVSAG as a community organization with a broad base of support. We are preparing to incorporate as a non-profit organization.
Look for our flyer in the Valley Springs News this month to read our goals and objectives and learn more about us or visit gvsag.org. We welcome participation from all residents and community stakeholders.
Please mail your generous contribution to The Greater Valley Springs Advisory Group, P.O. Box 1071, Valley Springs, 95252 or bring your checkbook to the GVSAG meeting on September 25. Thank you for helping to survey the greater Valley Springs community today to ensure a better tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Mike Hazelhofer, Co-Chair
Coordinating Committee
We will post the updated survey and will be needing your input.
